Tasting Notes: Toasted Walnut, Cane Sugar, Blackberry
Salkantay is named after the community where the coffee comes from in La Convencion, Cusco. Multiple producers with just one or two hectares come together to produce this awesome coffee, and boy is it an effort to get this from the farm to export. La Convencion is a full 12 hour drive from town, crossing many 12,000ft passes along the way. The coffee is grown at 1800-2000 masl and is comprised primarily of Typica, Catrurra, and Bourbon varietals. It's a well structured coffee that's complimented by a big rounded sweetness and subtle fruits.
